The Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela inaugurated a new community clinic in the Għargħur locality.
This clinic will be offering the services of a family doctor, speech and language pathology, as well as podiatry, among other services. This new clinic, which was partially funded by the National Social Development Fund (NDSF), will be serving over 5,000 residents of Għargħur as well as people living in the surrounding area.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained how the range of primary care services in the Community Clinics are in line with the work of the WHO where health care systems and services work best when they get closer to the community. The primary goal of this vision is that the efforts and the work being done in primary health care is centered on the patient.
“The Government is committed to continuing to invest and strengthen primary care in the community so that we can continue to offer a health service of the highest level”, concluded Minister Abela.
