While in London for a week dedicated to the Commonwealth, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg chaired the 64 th meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group.
During this meeting, in the presence of several Commonwealth Ministers including Secretary-General Patricia Scotland, various topics concerning the organization’s future were discussed. Malta now looks forward to the upcoming CHOGM to be held in Samoa in October of this year.
Throughout his visit, Minister Ian Borg also attended the celebration of the Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey where he had the opportunity to meet with HM Queen Camilla.
Minister Borg’s work continued with a number of important bilateral meetings. Among others, he met with Secretary-General Patricia Scotland to discuss the work being done together with Malta to strengthen the organization. He also met with Canadian Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Rob Oliphant. During this meeting, bilateral collaboration between the two countries on issues such as the United Nations, OSCE, and the Commonwealth was discussed. Bilateral work was also on the agenda.
