Fondazzjoni Sagħtar has launched a new publication entitled Superadult – Manual for Adults , which was financed through the SIS scheme (Small Initiatives Scheme), administered by the Maltese Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS).
This launch was held at San Ignatius College, in the primary school of Žebbuġ, by the Chairperson of Fondazzjoni Sagħtar Elaine Germani, the Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia Portelli and the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, in the presence of the CEO of the MCVS Mauro Pace Parascandolo.
Superadult – A Handbook for Adults contains a number of tips for children on their journey to becoming adults. Its concept is that of a manual that can be used when necessary, according to the subject or the questions one has. The book includes a selection of themes, including volunteering, education, sports, travel and others, with related points on how adults face each case. Students, parents and educators are invited to use this publication in an interactive and fun way for children.
The publication is bilingual, in Maltese and English, to be accessible to everyone and to assist students who are learning both languages.
During the launch, Elaine Germani explained the Foundation’s intention to continue to provide educational material for students, as well as the concept and process for this publication. She claimed that more than 4,000 copies of Superadult – Manual for Adults will be distributed for free to all students who attend the fifth year in State, Church and independent schools. This while she thanked everyone who was involved in the project.
The Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli expressed her satisfaction to see the Primary children being the beneficiaries of projects that are being carried out through the schemes administered by the MCVS. “The beauty of these projects is that projects are coming out of them that are leaving great wealth in our societies. And what’s better than seeing our children enjoy the fruits of an initiative coming out of volunteering. I look forward to seeing that, as we did a few weeks ago, where we distributed over one million euros in funds for associations, we will see that these funds continue to be used in the best possible way to leave the best added value,” she concluded. the Minister Farrugia Portelli.
For his part, Minister Clifton Grima said that this is another publication that shows how education goes beyond what is taught in schools. “Education is a way to lead our children towards holistic learning to be responsible citizens. This book is another means for students to have knowledge about key areas that introduce the student to various concepts needed in their daily life”, said Minister Grima.
A digital version of the publication will be available online for free at the saghtar.org.mt site and the Saghtar Foundation app.
