At the end of this week the payments of four social benefits will be paid. These are the Children’s Allowance, the Allowance for disabled children, the Fostering Allowance and the Supplementary Help. This will be the second installment of these benefits for this year.
The Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon announced this during a news conference, where he explained that from January to June 2024 €29,482,780 will be issued on Children’s Allowance payments, €1,857,987 for the Allowance of disabled children, €720,992 on Fostering Allowance and €8,206,518 on Supplementary Aid benefits. This means that by the first half of this year €40 million will have gone into the pockets of 63,000 families.
Meanwhile the payment of the Children’s Allowance throughout this year is seeing an increase of €250, with this increase being the biggest one in the fifty years that this benefit has existed.
Minister Falzon also mentioned that by the end of February 2024, the Ministry has implemented 25 out of 35 measures of the 2024 Budget, which means that 71.4% of all the measures of the 2024 Budget have already been carried out.
“The Government is committed to continuing to strengthen the quality of people’s lives through stronger benefits that go where there is the most need,” concluded Minister Falzon.
