The Police from the traffic section will start using a fleet of 24 new motorbikes with an investment of €600,000. The inauguration of these motorbikes was done by the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri and Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà.
It was said that it was essential to continue the renewal in this section that patrols the streets every day as well as assisting in the management of traffic and accidents and emergencies on the streets. Along with this fleet, another fleet of 22 scooters was also inaugurated which will be used by the Central Delivery Office in order to distribute the Courts’ reports throughout Malta and Gozo, among other work.
Minister Byron Camilleri said that this investment continues to be a testimony to how much the Government is investing in the Police Force and that eventually our communities will benefit from this investment because their security will be strengthened .
“With an investment of €600,000 in the traffic section of the Police Force, 24 new motorbikes were bought, built specifically to serve as police motorbikes. Like these motorcycles were also bought for other Bodies around Europe. These motorcycles are equipped with various safety features, and in this way the workers in the Police Force will be able to combine in the best way their duty and their role in our communities. We are continuing to invest in the traffic section also with the aim of implementing the Roads Policing budget measure in the coming months, which is something new, with more technology in the Police Force,” he concluded. says Minister Camilleri.
Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà said that for the officers of this section, the motorcycle is their office. He mentioned how this investment is also part of the work to continue to improve the working environment of the workers. “It is an investment that will lead to more comfort but above all it will lead to more security that will help us provide the service in the community in a more efficient way,” concluded Commissioner Gafà.
Inspector Nicholas Vella, from the traffic section, said that this investment continues to strengthen the same section in order to increase safety on Maltese and Gozitan roads.
