“The Government is committed to growing the sports sector with work that leads to both sports associations and unions continuing to be proactive, and while increasing the initiatives to generate income, but also so that the athletes and the – sportsmen will be able to practice their sporting discipline in international forums, while reaching the aspirations and goals they are working for,” said Minister Grima.
Through this financial assistance from SportMalta, the sports associations and unions will be in a better position so that the athletes and sportsmen in the various sports disciplines they represent, can take part and also participate in international sports events. “All this would not be possible without the help given by the Government which commits an amount of money every year to provide these assistances,” said Minister Grima.
He also said, “This Government is committed to continuing to increase sports tourism to Malta, so I encourage sports associations to continue organizing international events so that even through sport we can be a main pillar in the creation of job opportunities and investment in Malta.”
The CEO of SportMalta Mark Cutajar said that the entity has several initiatives and schemes through which this sector is being given help and emphasized that this work will continue to grow in the coming years. “SportMalta will continue to work to continue to give help to sports associations and unions and also to the athletes, so that they continue to make progress and achieve the expected results,” said Mr. Cutajar.
