The Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights sealed the last social agreement for the year 2023, through an extension it had with the Salesians of Don Bosco, who run Dar Osanna Pia and Dar Mamma Margherita. These residences welcome young people between 18 and 25 years of age, who have ended up without a roof over their head, without assistance and cannot even afford to live independently in a private residence.
Accordingly, these two residences prepare and prepare these young people, so that they gradually become stronger and learn to make timely decisions, while planning their finances.
The Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon announced this during a visit he made to one of the residences, together with the leadership of the Salesians in Malta. In fact, this funding, spread over three years, will be more than one million euros.
This financial aid that will guarantee the services of programs offered are on a semi-independent basis and move according to the needs of the individual. Moreover, a service of 14 beds will be provided in Dar Osanna Pia and 7 beds in Dar Mamma Margherita.
“The aim is to strengthen the emotions and behavior of the young people through training and continuous work, due to the fact that they are often affected in a negative way by everything that is happening around them. Eventually, we want to see that every young person integrates into the community and is able to build a future, a family and a career in what they really want,” stated Minister Michael Falzon.
Meanwhile, Minister Michael Falzon announced that for next year another €12 million has been allocated in order to continue the financing of agreements that already exist with various non-governmental organizations. Two new agreements will join the existing ones, one with Dar Kenn For Your Health and another with the Karl Vella Foundation.
