In Gozo the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne, together with the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, inaugurated a new Health Center in Victoria which will be offering twelve services to patients of Gozo near their home.
This modern Health Center, spread over two floors, will be strengthening the policy of primary health care in the community, including in Gozo, with services available in the coming days that until now were only available at the Gozo General Hospital.
Main among them, the service of a family doctor, blood sampling, vaccinations, foot care, electrocardiograms (ECG), the ACC-POC clinic (of warfarin ), a diabetes clinic, wound care, a specialist clinic for people with Down’s Syndrome and a health and wellness clinic (GU clinic).
The Deputy Prime Minister explained how this Centre, which was made with an investment of national and NDSF funds, will join the chain of services offered in Gozo by Primary Health Care in the clinics in community of Xewkija, Gharb and in a few other weeks Qala.
In addition, he explained that through the digital investment, it is possible for every resident in Malta and Gozo to make use of any Health Center or Clinic in the Primary Health Care Community, and this since the patient information is digitized and therefore accessible from each clinic. Deputy Prime Minister Fearne thanked the workers of the Foundation for Medical Services (FMS) for the infrastructural work and the Primary Health Care workers who will start operating from this Center from tomorrow.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated “Today we opened the new Health Center in this strategic location in the Center of the City of Victoria in which services will begin to be offered that until now were only provided by the General Hospital of Gozo. Therefore we will be better serving the needs of the Gozo people. And this will continue to add to the services provided in the community as just a few months ago we opened a community clinic in Gharb Gozo, now we have opened this Center in Rabat and in a little while we will be opening the third center in Qala. Therefore, through these Centers we will be meeting the health needs of the Gozo people.”
He concluded by saying that this Government is committed to continuing to invest fully in the health of citizens and to provide the best service and health care in the Maltese islands.”
