Between the 15th and 16th November 2023, the National Audit Office of Malta (NAO) hosted a significant bilateral meeting with the Corte dei Conti of Italy at the NAO in Floriana. This meeting served as a platform to deepen cooperation, exchange knowledge, and enhance collaboration on critical issues related to public sector auditing between the two institutions.
The Corte dei Conti (Italy) delegation, led by Mr. Guido Carlino, President of Corte dei Conti, and Mr. Mauro Orefice, Head of International Affairs Office was warmly welcomed by Mr Charles Deguara, Auditor General, and Mr Brian Vella, NAO External Affairs and Research Officer. Extensive discussions were held between the Italian delegation, and NAO senior management staff, marking the commencement of a comprehensive programme aimed at exploring shared interests. During their visit, the Italian delegation, accompanied by the Auditor General, Mr Charles Deguara, also had a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia.
This bilateral meeting underscored the commitment of both the NAO and the Corte dei Conti of Italy to enhance even further their bilateral collaboration, transparency, and the pursuit of excellence in public sector auditing.
