An agreement was signed between Active Aging and Care in the Community (AACC) and the Local Council of Marsaskala where a van that was at the disposal of the council will pass to the AACC to serve as part of the Silver service T.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela and Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli, who were present at the signing of the agreement, explained how the AACC will use this van for the next three years to provide a transport service, known as Silver-T, according to the needs of the elderly who live in Marsaskala, Żejtun, Marsaxlokk, Birżebbuġa and Ħal Għaxaq, so that they can do their work.
The Silver-T service operates nationally, from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm and provides transportation facility to those elderly people who wish they go to Health Centres, Active Aging Centres, the Local Council, the bank, the local market, and various other places. The Minister for Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela said that through this agreement, they will continue to help a number of elderly people living in the community in their daily lives.
This initiative continues with the government’s vision to continue to improve and facilitate the quality of life for the elderly who are still part of the community. The Minister concluded by saying that this collaboration is another important step in working in favor of the elderly.
Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli said that it is the right of every person to live an independent life and that this transport service will give the elderly access to the necessary services ‘ every day. The Parliamentary Secretary praised the Local Council of Marsaskala for the collaboration with Active Aging in favor of the welfare of its elderly residents.
