In a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, Floriana, 18 officers were appointmented in the rank of Police Inspector. Three of the officers will start serving with the Police Force for the first time.
The ceremony was chaired by the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality, Byron Camilleri and from the Commissioner of Police, Angelo Gafà.
Minister Byron Camilleri, while congratulating the new Inspectors for this new chapter in the their career, appealed to them to be an example for those officers that they will be are leading, because with their actions they will be spurring and motivating those in the ranks down them. “To feel the pulse of the community you have to be among the community. In this way the trust in you grows and in the people who will lead and thus maintain good relations with the community. We could see this in recent years, when the body decided to get closer to the heart of the community, confidence in it increased,” said Minister Camilleri.
The minister recalled how the government is and will remain grateful for the work that the police, as part of the disciplined bodies, they benefit society and the nation. He repeated as a witness of this recognition are the measures that the government announced in the last weeks, including the increase of 23% in the pension for those who have already done or intend to do 29 years of service, as well as an incentive another of two years’ pay, for those who do four years of additional service on top of the 29 years of service.
