The Institute for Tourist Studies (ITS) opened its doors to more than 600 students. In their majority the students will study a Master in International Hospitality Management, a Bachelor in Culinary Arts, a Higher Diploma in Tourist Guiding, and a Foundation Course.
During a ceremony that marked the beginning of this school year at ITS, the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo gave details about these courses and the line of study that the students took. He said that this number of students bodes well as our country continues to attract a record number of tourists especially when it comes to arrivals, tourist expenditure in the Maltese economy and the amount of nights spent in our country.
“Despite these positive results, we have to work more. Even if tourists continued to choose to visit the Maltese islands for various reasons, we recognize that the competitiveness in this industry is a continuous one,” said Minister Bartolo. He stressed that the next step is to focus more on the quality and authenticity in the product that our country offers. He concluded by saying that this should be a collective effort through which the hospitality industry really offers an experience of excellence.
