In the last three years, the Housing Authority has regenerated 270 blocks and around 2,000 social housing apartments throughout Malta. This regeneration program was carried out with an unprecedented investment of more than €10 million and which means that thousands of families are living in a much nicer environment and enjoying a better quality of life.
This was announced by the Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes during a visit he made to the social housing area known as L-Ispika, in San Ġwann, where regeneration works are currently underway on facades and roofs in a number of ‘ blocks. The Minister pointed out how this year, the Housing Authority has invested around €3 million to regenerate 74 blocks totaling around 480 apartments.
“These works show the Government’s commitment to our communities, where we are seeing that we offer a better quality of life to the residents who live in social housing apartments and who for decades have been left without no attention,” concluded Minister Roderick Galdes. Present for the visit was the Permanent Secretary Emanuel Psaila and the Mayor of San Gwann, Trevor Fenech.
