When he visited the first edition of TECHXPO, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed how central technological and digital development is in the economic transition towards more quality that our country is going through.
Businesses that embrace this principle will find the government incentivizing and supporting them so that our country remains at the forefront in creating quality careers. The expo, which is being staged at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali, is a living testimony of how much our country has and is attracting companies that are pioneers in the use of Artificial Intelligence and innovative technologies.
International companies such as Baxter, Toly, ST Microelectronics, Methode and many others are all participants in this expo. “It is gratifying to see under one roof so many companies that are located in Malta and that make various components for so many well-known brands around the world. This is our economic success, but more than that it is a sector where Malta will continue to grow because it was innovative, and at the forefront with the initiatives it took including in the Artificial Intelligence sector,” said Prime Minister Abela who in the last days visited workplaces that offer careers in this sector.
In the last ten years the economy of Malta has made great strides forward and today our country is among those that register the greatest economic growth in the European Union. However, it was explained that our country has never rested nor will rest on the subject. Our country was at the forefront and took initiatives before other countries when it comes to, among others, regulation on those related to virtual assets and blockchain technologies, a change that is now being adopted throughout Europe.
In fact, the Minister for the Economy, European Funds and Lands Silvio Schembri explained that while this expo is going on in our country, ministers of member states of the Mediterranean EU will be meeting for the meeting of -MED9 on Artificial Intelligence. This while on Thursday 21 September, TECHXPO will be open to the public free of charge. This is a unique opportunity especially for families with children and for young people who can see the opportunities in the technological field that this country offers.
Prime Minister Abela was also accompanied by the Director General of the European Commission for Communications, Content and Technology, Roberto Viola, by the Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana and by the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for the Economy, European Funds and Lands Ronald Mizzi.
