Malta to host the 24th Commonwealth Law Conference 2025

Malta will host the biennial 24th Commonwealth Law Conference 2025 (CLC25) in April 2025.

One of the most prestigious events in the global legal calendar, the five-day conference will bring together a pan Commonwealth audience of international lawyers, senior justice leaders, members of the judiciary, academics and emerging young legal talent. The conference will provide a platform for discussion, networking and the sharing of best practice, with a high calibre international speaking faculty discussing legal issues of contemporary resonance through the prism of the rule of law.

Organised and hosted by the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (The CLA), the CLA President Mr Peter D Maynard KC said “We are delighted to bring the conference to Malta which joins the ranks of premier destinations like Zambia, The Bahamas and India who have hosted previously. The last conference in Goa March 2023 attracted delegates from 46 Commonwealth jurisdictions and I am confident that Malta will be an extremely popular destination for our membership. I look forward to welcoming you all to the conference in 2025.”

CLC25 is being organised with the participation of The Council of the Chamber of Advocates, a local NGO representing the corps of warranted advocates admitted to the Bar of Malta. The Chamber of Advocates is proud to be collaborating with the Commonwealth Lawyers Association in the organisation of this esteemed event.

“I am pleased to welcome and support the 24th Commonwealth Law Conference to the Maltese Islands” said Carlo Micallef, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority. Malta and Gozo, at the heart of the Mediterranean, are long renowned as the place for high profile meetings and conferences, offering excellent flight connectivity with all the main cities in Europe and beyond, an extensive choice of modern and historical venues, and highly professional and experienced service providers to ensure a memorable event.

“We are honoured to announce that the Maltese Islands will be hosting a prestigious Commonwealth event, a testament to the enduring ties that bind our diverse nations together. This conference presents an opportunity to foster meaningful dialogue, strengthen partnerships and celebrate the mosaic of cultures that define the Commonwealth family. Our nation looks forward to extend a warm welcome to our fellow Commonwealth members as we embark on a journey of meaningful exchanges and collaborations,” outlined Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo.

The conference is well known for its social programme, and delegates and their guests will be given every opportunity to experience the beauty and history of Malta through local excursions both before, during, and after the conference. From a thrilling meander through history, to admiring the dramatic scenery, and relaxing in picturesque coves, Malta is an ideal destination for CLC25.
