The Ministry for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government has published amendments to Legal Notice 308 of 2018, which had established the Malta International Contemporary Art Space Agency (MICAS). These amendments are intended to strengthen and compliment the existing structures and mechanisms of this public cultural organisation.
The amendments will also allow the board to set up non-remunerated specialised committees that will aid the agency fulfill its work with regards to the internationalisation remit. They will aid the agency by ensuring that its international initiatives are adequately supported and facilitate the creation and maintenance of collaborations at an international level including interaction with international peer institutions.
These amendments will ensure the continued success of this ambitious cultural initiative, that as a dynamic international platform for contemporary art is one of the standard bearers of Malta’s international aspirations in the artistic field.
