A 31-year-old man was arrested late Tuesday night in St. Julian’s after being in possession a number of sachets with a substance suspected to be the drug cocaine and cannabis.
The man aroused suspicions of officers on patrol in Triq Santu Augustin but as they approached the suspect ran away. He was apprehended shortly afterwards.
A police officer was slightly injured when the suspect tried to resist arrest.
A search of a basket he was carrying uncovered 30 sachets with a substance believed to be cocaine, some sachets with the drug cannabis and some cash. He is being held under arrest while the investigations by the police are still ongoing.
