The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri and the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with the Mayor of Għajnsielem Kevin Cauchi, inaugurated a recreational space in Għajnsielem with the theme of learning – a project that was carried out with an investment of ‘ just over €350,000.
Minister Camilleri explained that such projects, even though they are spread over a not so large area, are very important in the communities because they offer a safe recreational space and in this case even an educational space with information boards that have been installed. The Minister for Gozo also praised the commitment of the Local Council of Għajnsielem which, in joint work with other entities, managed to generate an area that until a few months ago was abandoned, for a modern recreational space that caters to the needs of – the people of the area and the surroundings. The project included paving, benches, trees and plants, swing equipment, a ball pitch and an amphitheater.
The Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli explained that the government fully believes in the capacity of the local councils to carry out projects that the localities and their respective residents need and desire, therefore the government will continue to provide the tools necessary to the local councils in order to carry out projects in favor of their communities.
Mayor Kevin Cauchi explained that there are brail signs in the garden so that people who are visually impaired can read the information on the educational signs regarding the trees and plants in the garden . “This was done so that the garden is inclusive for everyone who visits and makes use of it,” stressed Mr. Cauchi. Present for this inauguration were also several members from the Għajnsielem Local Council.
