With an investment of just over €45,000, the Local Council of Hamrun has implemented a maintenance and beautification project in Triq San Ļużepp and Triq Nazzionali in Hamrun and its surroundings.
The funds were obtained through the financial scheme “Maintenance and Support of Major Infrastructural Projects carried out by the Government”, which is issued by the Local Government Division. The main objective of this scheme is that major infrastructural projects carried out by the Central Government in previous years can be kept in good condition.
These funds serve so that the local councils are in a position to carry out maintenance on such projects. The project included new paving, street furniture, plants, waste bins and aluminum panels for more accessibility and safety with the rest of the pedestrian bridge.
During a visit, the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli praised the local council of Hamrun for the dedication to get the funds and for the work to carry out this project. “The quality of life is at the center of the work of this Government, therefore we are committed to continue providing the necessary tools so that the Local Councils serve in the best way the needs of their respective localities and address the constantly changing challenges,” said Alison Zerafa Civelli.
The Mayor of the Local Council of Hamrun Christian Sammut said that through the funds obtained beautification works and new paving were done which made the area more accessible. He explained that this project could only be done through the additional funds from the scheme financed by the Government.
Director for the Implementation of Strategy and Policy within the Local Government Division, Marisa Pisani said that this funding contributed to improvements in the infrastructure and the general well-being of the residents. of Hamrun.
