We want more investment where sustainability is at the heart of what is being done. This was the main message given by Prime Minister Robert Abela in an address he made during the inauguration of two private projects with an investment of €86 million.
The two projects by Farsons Group in Birkirkara are a €66 million investment in Trident Park, a large-scale project that sees an office campus with an environmental element and open space while The Brewhouse Malta is a €20 million project million where the former Farsons brewery has been regenerated and, among others, offers visitors an experience in what used to welcome the production of beer.
During the inauguration the Prime Minister Robert Abela positively noted the objectives of the investment in these two projects, including giving open space to the people and also raising a niche known as industrial tourism. The Prime Minister explained how investments focused on sustainability and quality continue to contribute to economic growth which in the first quarter of this year reached two and a half times more than that of the European Union.
Prime Minister Abela stressed that the Government will continue to support investments linked to sustainability and that create quality jobs. He meant the economic transition that the Government is pushing as an important one because the growth that we want to continue to experience in our country will come as a result of changes that we make to create the best possible environment so that Malta continues to attract investment that is based more on quality and sustainability.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the environmental core is something that the Government wants to do in our country together with the private sector. He mentioned among others the importance of continuing to invest in renewables. He claimed this in the context that just this week the European Commission approved the revised Recovery Plan of our country which was the one that asked to invest more in the generation of renewable energy. In relation to the campus of offices which also welcomes those in the field of financial services, the Prime Minister noted the strength of the financial industry in our country as evidenced by a report issued in recent days by the Maltese Authority for Financial Services, where not only did the added value of this industry increase in the economy but in one year the rate of people working in the sector increased by 26%.
