More investment in cancer research

At Castile, Prime Minister Robert Abela met with a group of Maltese cyclists who form part of the Alive Charity Foundation. The aim of this non-governmental association is to raise funds for cancer research, through cycling challenges.
In the next challenge, which will start on July 25 from Barcelona, thirty-five cyclists will row 1,300km in seven days, to collect donations precisely for this purpose. During this visit, the Prime Minister Robert Abela praised this initiative and said that this challenge is a symbol of the determination, will and courage of all those who at one time or another have been touched by cancer.
He stressed that the government remains committed to investing in the field of research on the disease, so much so that the Cancer Plan 2024-2030 focuses on research, prevention, screening and having early diagnosis of the disease.
Chairperson, Nicky Camilleri, and the co-founder, Elton Barry, spoke on behalf of Alive Charity Foundation, who explained that their goal is to raise €300,000 so that in the tenth year since the establishment of the foundation, they have collected a total of million euros.
With the prime minister they talked about the preparations for this challenge that have been going on for the last year, both in that which is the design of the route, the logistics behind this initiative as well as the training cyclists’ physique.
