An agreement was signed between the Institute for Tourism Studies (ITS) and the Mediterranean Screen Arts Academy through which a department will be created within the same ITS to offer vocational training programs in the field of films.
This agreement was signed in a news conference addressed by the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo, the CEO of ITS Pierre Fenech and the co-founder of the Mediterranean Screen Arts Academy Trevor Walton. Minister Clayton Bartolo stressed how the growth experienced by the film industry in Malta in recent years requires them to continue working hard on the importance of strengthening skills while looking at educational training that can attract more people enter this industry.
“It is crucial that ITS continues to be proactive by offering more educational opportunities to students who choose a career in tourism. Our duty demands that we continue to encourage more people to enter this industry, so that tomorrow local tourism will have worthy ambassadors at every level of the tourist product that we offer,” repeated Minister Bartolo.
The Minister added that these vocational education programs in the film industry are an opportunity for the film industry in Malta to continue to raise the level when it comes to human resources.
CEO Pierre Fenech pointed out how the ITS is giving importance to the tourist niches that incorporate the local tourist product. “After signing an important agreement with one of the most reputable diving schools in the world, we are extending our vision to the film industry. This collaboration agreement will greatly help us to continue to improve the quality of education offered by ITS,” concluded the chief executive.
The co-founder of the Mediterranean Screen Arts Academy Trevor Walton said that they are optimistic that this collaboration between the two parties will translate into success.
