Malta has won this year’s Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) with a record tally of 97 medals.
38 gold medals, 30 silver medals, and 29 bronze medals saw Malta overtake Cyprus, who finished second ahead of Luxembourg third.
Prime Minister Robert Abela praised all the athletes and coaching staff and everyone involved in athletes, saying that with the right investment, there was nothing the Maltese could not achieve.
Sports Minister Clifton Grima said, “”There is no doubt that this has been the greatest week in Maltese sports history”.
