Prime Minister Robert Abela hammered home the government’s initiatives for helping the workers and families when he addressed supporters who thronged the streets of Valletta to celebrate Workers Day.
To rapturous applause he announced that a new round of tax rebates would soon be arriving at the doors of 250,000 workers.
The prime minister promised that more affordable housing should be made available for those wanting to buy their own home.
Prime Minister Abela hinted at reforms in the building industry, asking if it was time to reform planning laws. He asked if it fair and right that construction can continue while the permit is being contested in court.
