Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated a €12 million factory extension of Seifert Systems Ltd. in the industrial area of Ħal Far and announced that the same company, which manufactures systems that regulate temperatures in various industrial craft, will continue to expand and invest more than €9 million to diversify its product.
With this latest investment announced, the German company based in Malta for more than 50 years and which today employs almost 450 people, will create more jobs apart from the 140 new jobs that were created with the extension of the factory.
In an address he made during the inauguration of the expansion of the Seifert plant, the Prime Minister noted how the company became the first of its kind to have a factory in our country that works without polluting the environment. Here the Prime Minister noted how this company is doing what is part of the Government’s economic vision in favor of sustainability by, among others, investing in state-of-the-art equipment to reach the highest levels.
Prime Minister Robert Abela pointed out for an effective way that this inaugurated investment was completed after it was announced only 18 months ago. Note how the planned investment that Seifert is working on in Malta involves diversification of new electronic products as this company continues to expand into new markets.
The Prime Minister Abela also said that even in the face of strong economic growth pointed out by international institutions including international credit agencies, the Government continues to take strategic decisions with which it helps businesses and families with the subsidy on energy. Here he pointed out to other statements not coming from the Government to stop aid on energy and that the Government will definitely continue to disagree with them and therefore gives the peace of mind that the support will continue to be given. Dr. Abela also noted how the company is not only employing more people in our country but is continuing to improve the skills of workers in technical sectors such as engineering.
Here he said that the Government remains aware of challenges in the labor sector to continue improving the skills of workers in the face of a reality that more enterprises are looking for more people to employ and that is why as a country we continue to give priority to the education by also incentivizing students to train in subjects related to science, engineering and mathematics among others.
The Prime Minister referred to a number of investments announced recently including in the aviation and pharmaceutical sectors and reaffirmed the commitment that the Government will continue to incentivize and support growth that will also create opportunities and improve the situation of Maltese and Gozitan workers.
CEO and Managing Director of Seifert in our country, Michael R. Seifert stressed that the company has never chosen to lay off workers, even during the greatest international challenges such as the pandemic. He claimed that the company gives great importance to the training of the workers with which they continue to develop and grow in their career while he mentioned that steps in favor of a sustainable operation do not mean only spending but investment in favor of saving resources and money.
