The works on rural roads in Gudja have been completed which have improved accessibility for farmers With an investment of more than €707,969 with European funds, Triq tal-Lampat, Triq ta Loretu, Triq Victor Pasmore, Sqaq Habel Wati and Sqaq Xlejli in Gudja were renovated.
The Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Chris Bonett together with the Mayor of Gudja Marija Sara Vella Gafa visited all the works done on these roads. Roads that are all frequented mostly by farmers and villagers and that, due to the state of these roads, was creating an access problem for farmers and villagers who have the fields and the -their farms in the area.
The first phase consisted of the rebuilding of Triq tal-Lampat, Triq ta Loretu and Triq Victor Pasmore and the second phase consisted of the resurfacing of Sqaq Habel Wati and Sqaq Xlejli. Parliamentary Secretary Bonett said that with an investment of €22.5 million from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the works on 160 rural roads have almost been completed.
“Committed that with the new program of European funds, until 2027 we will continue to improve more rural roads with the aim that farmers and villagers have a better infrastructure and we will continue to beautify such areas that complement the beauty of the agricultural land,” concluded Parliamentary Secretary Bonett.
The Mayor Marija Sara Vella Gafa said that through these funds, the Local Council could give better accessibility to the farmers as well as to the residents of Gudjani and the surrounding area to visit this natural landscape. “Through the same fund we have also benefited to build more roads, which are Sqaq il-Loġja and Triq tal-Gholjiet. These roads will be made with a catalytic method, with what is called ‘crazy paving’,” concluded the Mayor.
