Deputy Prime Minister nominated for the President of the World Health Assembly

 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne has been nominated for the position of President of the seventy-sixth edition of the International Health Assembly organized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
As the President of this Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister Fearne will be leading a series of meetings for which leaders in the field of health from the 194 Member States of the World Health Organization are expected to participate.
The highlight of the one-year term that this position carries with it is the annual Assembly, which is considered a key event for the leadership of the WHO, where Member States determine the priorities and policy of the Organization for the coming year.
The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the show of confidence in his leadership in the field of health and thanked the European Regional Director Hans Kluge and the WHO Regional Committee of the European Region for the nomination.
“It is an honor for a Maltese to lead the World Health Assembly, and the nomination for this position continues to strengthen the reputation of Malta’s health sector on an international scale” stated the Deputy Prime Minister
Fearne.
He also reaffirmed his commitment as Minister for Health in Malta so that the sector continues to recover from the effects of the pandemic.
