The Government refers to Steward Malta’s statement earlier today that they have decided to abandon the operation of the hospitals. In the circumstances the Health Authorities are in a position to immediately operate the hospitals in question.
In this way the Government will once again reassure the employees that their work is guaranteed. The Government also gives assurance that citizens, including patients, will continue to receive the highest level health service that our country is known for.
The Government declares that it does not agree in the most absolute way with the reasons given by Steward for the abandonment and much less with the demands that are being made and will be responding to this in the appropriate forums in the best national interest.
