Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the places where the Carnival artists work with such dedication. There he met the participants who were going through the last preparations before exhibiting their trailers and costumes.
Organized by Festivals Malta, the Malta Carnival is one of the oldest festivals in our country, which even goes back to 500 years ago. This year the Carnival activities will be spread over five days in Valletta. In this edition, nine different categories will compete, consisting of floats, competitive dance, installations, and masquerades.
During his visit, the Prime Minister spoke to the participants, where they explained to him how they manage to create their trailers from an artistic concept, a job that takes many months to complete. He praised this work and claimed that through this talent they are keeping the Carnival tradition alive, so that it continues to be enjoyed by the public as well as tourists.
The Prime Minister also saw the new vehicles that will be used during the Carnival through an investment of €1.2 million. He reiterated that the Government is committed to continue investing in the field of culture and through this investment we will have a more sustainable and safer Carnival, both for the participants and for the audiences.
