During his official visit in Ghana, on behalf of the Maltese Government, the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg had an official meeting with His Majesty Otumfou Nana Osei Tutu II, who is the 16th Asantehene, at Manhyia Palace.
During an audience he addressed with the Asanthene, Minister Borg spoke about the strong progress in the relations between Malta and Ghana, also through the latest inauguration of the High Commission of Malta in Accra. He claimed how Malta aims to continue implementing our country’s strategy with Africa for 2020-2025 in order to further increase cooperation with African partners.
He went on to say that Malta will continue to see that there is cooperation, not only in the public sector but also in the private sector, and that is why a strong trade delegation was brought. Minister Borg claimed that he will be seeing that diversification in cooperation continues to bear fruit while creating new opportunities through which both peoples benefit.
Minister Borg stated how on behalf of the Maltese Government he appreciates the important role of His Majesty the Asantehene in prioritising the development agenda in the respective communities. This is why the Maltese Government is interested to continue intensifying the socio-economic collaboration.
His Majesty Otumfou Nana Osei Tutu thanked the Maltese Government for sending both a political and also a trade delegation in order to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. He remarked how in this way, friendship can continue to be maximized and the two peoples move forward.
