New Nursing Simulator at private teaching academy

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne inaugurated a new nursing simulator of the educational institution Idea Academy in Mosta, which serves to train in a practical way the nurses who attend the courses in the same institution.
Minister Fearne recalled how all nurses who graduate from Maltese educational institutions are given an opportunity to work with the public health sector. While he referred to the continuous efforts of the Health Authorities so that more young people approach this vocation, he explained that the demand for new nurses requires the Government to recruit foreign nurses as well.
He praised the Maltese educational institutions for the high level of training they offer nursing students, where they are even trained in simulators like the one inaugurated by the IDEA Academy, on mannequins in a hall environment so that they are confident working in this atmosphere once they start training on patients.
During the same news conference, the Deputy Prime Minister gave an account of the influenza and COVID situation in the country where he stated that so far the number of people hospitalized with respiratory problems is still below control. However, he again encouraged those who have not yet received the vaccinations to do so at one of the Health Centers between 10am-5pm, without the need for an appointment.
Managing Director of the Idea Group, Silvio Debono explained how the educational institution’s courses are aimed at adults who wish to continue their studies in the field of health. He said that since courses related to the field of health have been offered in this academy, 150 medical professionals have graduated, while they are currently continuing their studies with the other 300 health students.
