A project submitted by Malta was selected as one of ten projects among a total of 138 projects submitted by a number of European member states.
In this way, Malta obtained a grant of €155,000 and through which, various structures will be facilitated where children can participate, hear their voice, and decide on their behalf about situations that affect them personally.
Eventually these recommendations will be included in the country’s national policy, especially in policies that affect children, such as the environment, education and health. These details were announced in a news conference by the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Michael Falzon and the Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds, Chris Bonett during which a detailed presentation of this a project that will continue to give more space and voice to every child.
“This government strongly believes in more empowerment for our children, from a young age. We want to give them the necessary strength to be assertive and able to decide even in delicate situations. The project should serve to complement the work we have done to strengthen the voice of children, and put them at the center of everything that affects them”, stated Minister Michael Falzon.
In fact this project is a key point from the social themes on which the Social Vision 2035 was prepared, and which requires us to leave a legacy and a positive environment to our children, where they have the chance to roam and explore new opportunities.
The Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Chris Bonett said that with the help of European Services in Malta, this is the first project of its kind for which funds were obtained under the program, “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values “. Chris Bonett said that this project gives children the tools to make their voices heard in our country’s democracy and in decision-making in those areas that affect them. He also said that we are currently in a time where the opportunities we enjoy from European funds will increase not decrease, so in the coming days we will be launching the Operational Programs linked to the largest package of European funds to invest the funds in the best interest of the Maltese and Gozitan people.
