New uniform for Malta Police Force

From today, Tuesday 10 January, all members of the Police Force will start using a new uniform. This was announced in a news conference by the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri, and Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà, at the Police Headquarters.
The new uniforms, which are being made with an investment of more than two million euros over three years, will not only completely change the image of the body, but will be of greater comfort to the workers who wear them, they offer more security, and it is more suitable for the Maltese climate including the use of superior material.
Minister Byron Camilleri stated that “The Police Force is one of the foundations of the country’s security and must move with the times. To do this he must continue to evolve and transform, while we continue to build on the many good things that are in the corps, above all we build on the members of the corrps. The new uniforms are part of this continuous renewal that the corps is going through. In fact, these uniforms will be changing the image of the corps and will give more comfort and safety to the workers who wear them and work with them, while bringing them closer to the community. The ongoing renewal is aimed at the body being based on solid structures, while transforming itself for the future.”
The Police Commissioner said that the new uniform is more practical with a number of security features, more adequate for the climate of our country, and gender-neutral. “While this uniform covers elements of uniforms worn by other police bodies, its design is unique and that will then distinguish us from other entities both at a local and international level. As you can see this design continues to follow in a uniform way on the polo shirts, on the soft-shell jackets, as well as on the hard shell jackets which here it is good to say that these are certified according to ISO standards for the high -visibility workers,” concluded the Commissioner.
