For the first time since July, 2022, Malta is introducing a new COVID-19 measure at the airport.
All arrivals from China must now show a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test as of Monday if they plan to enter the island according to a new legal notice by Superintendent of Public Health Charmaine Gauci on Friday.
The test cannot have been performed more than 48 hours prior to being presented. Anyone under the age of 11 does not need to provide a test. The Superintendent of Public Health has the authority to exempt anyone it chooses from the new legal notice.
As it currently stands, Malta does not have any direct flights from China. However, any travellers that started their trip in China will still need to show their negative test.
