Dr. Lydia Abela has officially closed the third edition of the ‘Gift with Love’ initiative.
In Pjazza Castilja next to the Christmas tree and a large amount of gifts thanks to the generosity of the Maltese and Gozitan people, Dr. Abela and her daughter Giorgia Mae thanked the families and the businesses for the gifts they gave to a person who did not they do not know but with which they will delight many.
On the last day of this initiative a wonderful show was staged, with a day of activities in Castile Square through a Christmas Village. “I see the genuine and altruistic heart of the Maltese and Gozitan people come to life in this activity because behind these gifts there is a child, a father or a mother, a grandfather or a grandmother who passed by the tree of -Christmas and thought of someone else,” emphasized the Prime Minister’s wife.
While expressing a sense of pride as a Maltese part of a society that cherishes the beautiful value of solidarity, Dr Lydia Abela explained how this initiative is having a positive impact on those who need it most and are among the most vulnerable. She referred to the initiative at the Mater Dei hospital which will continue until the day after Christmas with the participation of Jake Vella, to also buy products for animals and she also recalled the annual event of Istrina.
In the presence of the Prime Minister who attended the closing of this initiative, Dr. Lydia Abela explained how this year’s edition of ‘Gift with Love’ was also in the towns and villages of our country and pointed out the main role of the local councils who further pushed this initiative in the community.
The wife of the Prime Minister thanked, among others, the children, the educators, the forces of order and the social workers for their contribution in this initiative, among them in connection with the distribution of gifts in children’s homes.
At the end of this initiative, the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri also spoke, who noted how the same disciplinary bodies that we usually see protecting us will be on the streets. the joy among the children, while the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli noted the commitment of the local councils so that all the children have a present to open this Christmas
