During this meeting, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Secretary of State discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations that go back almost 60 years.
Both stressed that this meeting clearly shows the commitment that the two countries have to continue to strengthen the collaboration between them in various fields including those of maritime security, cybersecurity and the situations in the region of the Mediterranean.
Minister Ian Borg also spoke about how it is gratifying that Malta is attracting interest from American companies to operate in our country and he looks forward to more collaboration in the commercial relationship between the two countries. “Malta’s seat on the United Nations Security Council will be a very good opportunity so that we can work more together in multilateral forums. That’s why we closely discussed the priorities of our country so that through dialogue together, we work in favor of stability and peace between the countries,” claimed Minister Ian Borg.
Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken said that the United States also aims to continue improving relations with Malta in many areas. He claimed that he looks forward so that there is important cooperation in the coming time on the Security Council of the United Nations. Blinken claimed that the United States welcomed the important work done by our country when it comes to reforms related to the rule of law. The war in Ukraine, climate change, issues related to the energy sector and Africa were also discussed.
