The President of Malta George Vella thanked the participants who came together on Sunday morning for a solidarity walk and run during The President’s Solidarity Fun Run 2022. In a few words at the end of the event, President Vella said that such activities highlight the spirit of solidarity of the people of Malta and Gozo who eagerly gathered in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund. He added that this is an occasion that testifies to what unites us as Maltese and Gozitan people. “We are happy to see the people of Malta united because we are a small people and our strength is in unity. We cannot allow divisions between us, we cannot allow lack of unity between us, but we must ensure that such cases bring us together as one united people”, said the President.
This year, The President’s Solidarity Fun Run returned to its traditional format, with the walks starting from the University of Malta, Santa Venera and Paola, and the run starting from Rabat to Valletta. The participants joined the President of Malta and Mrs Miriam Vella near Bieb il-Bombi in Floriana to continue the walk together to St George’s Square. The Prime Minister Robert Abela, the Leader of the Opposition Bernard Grech, and several members of parliament from both sides of the House also joined the walk.
The President’s Solidarity Fun Run was held in collaboration with SportMalta and the Local Councils’ Association with the support of the company Enemed, which is the main sponsor, and a large number of other companies.
President George Vella encouraged everyone to once again unite as one people and be generous on Boxing Day for l-Istrina.
