For next year’s budget the government has allocated €154,273,000 for the tourism sector to continue to recover and strengthen for the time to come.
These details were announced during a visit made by the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo together with the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Aaron Farrugia on infrastructure works related to the regeneration project of Ghadira beach in Mellieħa.
Minister Clayton Bartolo stressed that despite the international challenges, the government will continue to invest so that the local tourist product can update itself with today’s times. He claimed that “We are investing to improve the tourist infrastructure of one of the most popular beaches in our country. The investment in the tourist product is not a whim but it is a live and continuous investment in a tourism world that is becoming more competitive.”
Minister Bartolo added that the way forward for the coming year will be one based on improving air connectivity through an increase in routes and frequencies that respond to the demand of the sector, as well as broadening the advertising activity in more markets and segments such as sports, cultural and religious tourism.
Minister Aaron Farrugia said that Infrastructure Malta will continue to collaborate with a number of entities and authorities to deliver infrastructure projects on time, in a professional manner and that put the people at the center of them.
“This project testifies to the commitment of the entity where in a location that attracts thousands of tourists and families, and from a road that was for many years forgotten as it is the only road that takes you to and from the ship of Gozo, we will deliver a project that is not only aesthetically beautiful, but also thought of a number of new services and facilities. This while we have improved connectivity from and to Marfa, a place frequented by many especially during the summer months,” stated Minister Farrugia.
