Under the motto “Malta in Motion”, Malta Tourism Authority, together with Air Malta and Berlin Brandenburg Airport, a few weeks ago hosted workshops and networking, where around 170 visitors gathered in one of Berlin’s main hotels, for an informative and convivial exchange.
The workshop was fully booked with 80 travel sellers and tour operators. The event also gave the opportunity for all those present to taste some traditional Maltese delicacies which once again inspired the interested trade audience in the German capital.
The event was also actively supported by partners of the Maltese tourism industry such as the family-run hotel Palazzo Nina and AX group Hotels, as well as a representative for the Maltese sister island Gozo.
For the German market, Malta is a popular outdoor and diving destination, so TechWise and MC Adventures, as a diving base and outdoor activities company, informed the trade audience with details on various activities that one can entertain while visiting the islands.
The event came to an end with a dinner hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Germany, H.E. Dr. Vanni Xuereb. Dr Gavin Gulia, Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority, welcomed the guests, which included high-ranking representatives of the diplomatic corps and a delegation from Malta. Networking and convivial exchanges were the focus of the event.
“Malta’s foundations on sustainable tourism are based on targeting various tourism niches all year round. From adventure travel to diving and entertainment, visiting Malta is about exploring diversified new vistas that cement our country’s prospects as a well-reputable tourism bastion in the Mediterranean,” outlined Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo.
“It is no secret that great things happen when like-minded individuals meet and network together. This event, organised by the MTA Office in Germany, helped to bring out this quality and continue to cultivate interest in the Maltese Islands amongst the trade audience present in Berlin. As an Authority we consider Germany to be one of our most important markets, and I look forward to seeing more marketing activities, spearheaded by the team in Germany and the team in Head Office, to see this important market go from strength to strength,” MTA CEO Carlo Micallef added.
