Through an agreement that was signed today, the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation is entering into a collaboration with the University of Malta to carry out research that should lead to a report about an innovation that can be implemented in the manufacturing sector.
The agreement was signed by the Rector of the University of Malta Prof Alfred J. Vella, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Matthew Vella and two lecturers at the University Dr Stephanie Fabri and Prof Vincent Cassar. The signing of the agreement was chaired by Minister Clifton Grima and Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti.
Through this agreement, the Ministry for Education is funding a research and development project, which will be carried out by the University, with the aim of identifying challenges and opportunities linked to the investment of companies in innovation in the field of manufacturing. The “Enhancing Innovation in Manufacturing: Engineering of Plastics in Malta and Poland” project will concentrate on companies in this sector that are involved in engineering both in Malta and in Poland.
The aim of this research project is to create innovative methods in engineering systems that better capitalize on the integration of human resources and engineering systems, while proposing effective and innovative processes in this sector. The results that will be obtained from this project will be compared with the state of manufacturing in Poland, a country where manufacturing has a longer tradition.
