After two meetings held during these two days 95% of the Airmalta workers
members in the GWU voted in favor of an agreement reached between the GWU and the Government.
After the agreement that was reached back last February which stated that these
workers will have a guaranteed job and a guaranteed ‘take home pay’ payment, the
an agreement also stipulated two schemes that were finalized recently
discussions.
“After months of discussions between the Government, Airmalta and the trade unions, we pulled
one rope and I am pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement for these
workers. Agreement on early retirement schemes and extension of the date when the
workers will be transferred from Airmalta to RSSL. Hard work that came
approved with satisfaction by our members,” said the General Secretary of the
GWU, Josef Bugeja.
