The last preparations for the concert of the Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja, with the participation of the soprano artist of international fame, Plácido Domingo, are proceeding at a good pace.
This year’s event is of important significance as it marks the 25th anniversary since it saw its beginning in our country.
This concert, which for this year will be staged in Manoel Island, the Island, has become an integral part of the Maltese cultural and musical calendar with the potential to attract to the Maltese islands a tourism niche that chooses a destination for her passion for soprano and musical art.
During a visit to Manoel Island, the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo pointed out that this event is a living example of how culture and tourism go hand in hand.
“The quality and consistency in organizing cultural activities in our country is getting stronger. Joseph Calleja’s concert fits perfectly with these two principles. The talent and show that a tenor of international fame like Joseph Calleja is able to offer does not need any introduction from me, on the contrary the satisfaction is greater when you see a person who is Maltese like you doing you an honor in the musical world. The consistency is there because after a pandemic that disrupted the organization of these activities, there was still the will for these types of events to remain in the socio-cultural calendar of our country”, claimed the Minister for Clayton Bartolo Tourism.
He stressed the importance of the Malta Tourism Authority continuing to invest in these types of events so that both tourists and even the Maltese have a diversified product and a good advertisement for the country in general.
Also present for this visit were the Chief Executive of the Malta Tourism Authority Carlo Micallef, the Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority Gavin Gulia, the tenor Joseph Calleja as well as commercial companies that are assisting this -concert.
