Hibernians fell to a 3-0 defeat against Shamrock Rovers in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier in Dublin.
Trailing by two goals at the break Hibernians did improve in the second half with Groothuesen hitting the crossbar and Thaylor’s shot agonisingly beating the keeper only to come back off the post.
Shamrock made sure of the win with a third goal to give them a healthy lead ahead of the return leg in Malta next week.
