Seniors over the age of sixty who still live in the community will be benefiting from new and advantageous telecommunications offerings leaving more money in their pockets.
This is through an agreement signed between the Ministry for Active Aging together with the telecommunications company EPIC.
At a news conference it was explained how these new offers are part of the Discount Scheme for the Elderly. Through this agreement, seniors who present their Maltese Identity Card will have an offer on the ‘Mountain Mobile Plan’, where for a price of € 14.99 per month they will benefit from 8GB of local data as well as phone calls and unlimited SMS, both local and in the EU and England.
Therefore, more seniors will be encouraged to use various technological methods of communication in the community and thus further strengthen the need for active participation through technology.
The Minister for Active Aging, Jo Etienne Abela, who presided over the signing of this agreement, said that this is further evidence of the government’s work with the private sector to continue carrying out projects for the benefit of Maltese society. .
The Minister reiterated that after many years of working for the benefit of society and their families, the elderly Maltese and Gozitans deserve a decent life with top-level services that are subsidized or paid for by the government. He recalled that it was this government that for year after year, since 2013, has increased the pensions of the elderly.
“I invite local investors to prepare proposals on how we can work together to ensure that the aging sector in Malta continues to strengthen and reach a level of excellence,” concluded Minister Abela.
