The Minister for the Economy, European Funds and Lands Silvio Schembri sent to the Standing Committee on the Accounts of the National Audit Office, within the Parliament of Malta, two resolutions and other documentation on agreements. with the American University of Malta (AUM) and SmartCity Malta.
This means that in less than a hundred days of a new government, the promise to start the process so that virgin land in Żonqor will remain intact has been kept, land in Cottonera that was to be built by the AUM will be returned to the people. , while SmartCity will continue to come to life and become one of the main destinations in our country.
While the agreements are separate, land in SmartCity that the government will get back will be allocated to various initiatives, including the relocation of the AUM from Marsascala and a part of Cospicua that was to be built.
The new ITS campus will also be built on the ground in SmartCity.
With AUM, the changes are primarily based on land swaps, while in the case of Smart City, the government is committed to making a certain investment that benefits the community as a whole.
In SmartCity, open spaces are also expected to increase.
The land in Żonqor given back to the government will be part of the Inwadar National Park, the land that will be returned to the people in Cospicua will see a beautification project, and the South of Malta will continue to enjoy investment and job creation.
