The Ministry of Solidarity and Social Justice, Family and Children’s Rights has sealed another agreement with the Caritas Foundation, with a record sum of € 4.2 million. This investment will lead to the launch of the New Hope project, which will help people overcome drug-related difficulties.
The New Hope project will be providing rehabilitation programs for men and women in San Blas respectively. This 3-year agreement is designed to provide customer support and a sense of empowerment, leading them to reintegrate into society.
The agreed financial agreement will guarantee the use of 42 beds and therapeutic sessions of 7,500 hours per year.
These details were announced at a news conference by Minister Michael Falzon. He said that in the last five years this Ministry has worked closely with Caritas, so much so that it has two other separate agreements, the one with the management of the Center of Sewers and of Charles Miceli House.
“Today we have invested another large sum, because we believe that it will serve as a stimulus for every person who wants to reform his life. We don’t care why that person ended up addicted, we just care about helping that individual get back on his feet. I sincerely appeal to all those who have a problem to move forward, because seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of courage, “said Minister Michael Falzon.
Minister Michael Falzon added that a Labour Government is the guarantee of support to every NGO and Foundation that wants to continue to help people and do good in our society. He spoke about how the last five years have been a clear testament to the commitment and continued support we have given as a Government. A government that never bothers renewing agreements and even starting new ones, because it understands that there are social realities that are constantly changing.
