An agreement has been signed with two companies, Attrans and White Brothers, through which they will relocate to another area within the Ħal Far industrial area so that the land they used to operate from will now be used for the motorsport racetrack project.
The agreement was reached in the presence of the Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri who reiterated the Government’s commitment to fulfil yet another promise which forms part of the electoral manifesto, that of building a racetrack.
“It is a promise that requires a lot of work and today’s agreement is proof of the Government’s commitment to implement this project. I would like to thank the two companies, Attrans Ltd and White Brothers Ltd, for their cooperation to relocate from the area they operated from to another in the vicinity.”
“The two companies operate in the transport and logistics sector and therefore it was very important for them that they continue to operate from within the same industrial area,” explained Minister Schembri.
“We worked to find an alternative site. The land measures some 27,000 square metres and can be used as a result of the finalisation of a number of new roads in the industrial area itself that give access to areas that were unreachable before these works were conducted,” said Minister Schembri.
Minister Schembri explained that these newly built roads were part of a larger-scale project within the framework of our country’s industrial infrastructural programme, with an investment of €470 million, €30 million of which were allocated to the development of roads in the industrial areas of Ħal Far, Bulebel, Marsa, Kordin and San Ġwann.
“Indis Malta will be assisting these companies in the relocation process, supporting them both technically and financially, in a bid to facilitate the process with the least inconvenience for the companies involved,” said Minister Schembri.
5Secretary General for Motorsport Jonathan Bruno welcomed this step which will “pave the way for works to start on the racetrack”.
