A European-funded reservoir worth around € 104,000 has been inaugurated so that Gozitan farmers can enjoy the water collected in it for the irrigation of their agricultural products.
Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri and Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi inaugurated a reservoir at St. George’s Estate, Kerċem, which was built to house surface water run -off). This was done through the InCircle project funded by European funds under the InterregMed 2014-2020 program, run by the EcoGozo directorate under the Ministry for Gozo, and in collaboration with the Kerċem Local Council.
Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri stated that, “This project, worth around € 104,000, financed with 85% European funds and 15% local funds, will cover 400 cubic meters of water.” He also explained that this is another project as a testament to how much this government takes care of every sector in our country and this time it was the turn of the agricultural sector. Minister Camilleri added that, “farmers in these areas will be able to enjoy the water that is collected in the reservoir during the hot summer months in the irrigation of their agricultural products.”
