As part of the pre-1995 property rental market reform, the government has announced an extension of another measure that will give tenants the opportunity to renovate their homes and make it more secure.
Minister for Social Housing Roderick Galdes announced that the existing scheme, which was announced in 2013 and benefited those with assets of up to € 25,000, has now been opened to those with assets of up to € 60,000. They will be subsidized on work they do in their homes to make them safer. The subsidy will be increased from € 10,000 to a maximum of € 25,000.
Minister Galdes said: “It is not acceptable for anyone to live in a house with a dangerous structure. Whatever the financial situation, whatever the title of the property you own. This is directly related to the decency and quality of life of the person. ” The minister went on to state that, “this enhanced subsidy is therefore ensuring that no one lives in fear at home.”
