During a meeting at the Auberge de Castille with representatives of business owners, the Chamber of Small and Medium-sized Businesses, Prime Minister Robert Abela expressed the government’s willingness to continue to support businesses to remain at the centre of the country’s recovery and economic growth.
Prime Minister Abela emphasized that “there are no compromises with business life. We have assisted everyone without bureaucratic complications and will continue to assist as needed. This government will not leave businesses alone. ” Since the pandemic hit our shores, the government has spent more than € 680 million on business assistance, with € 650 million being translated into wage supplement aid. Over 17,500 businesses have been helped, most of them small and medium-sized businesses and self-employed.
He reminded how much the country is in favor of business even in the provision of service and assistance, with Business 1st registering 290,000 direct contacts with businesses. Part of this success in business, said the Prime Minister, was the Small and Medium Chamber of Commerce working hand in hand with the government in challenging times. He said that it is in this spirit of dialogue that we must continue to move forward to find different methods of helping the various businesses in the country.
“The wage supplement will remain there as long as necessary. Next month, the wage supplement will remain as it is and if necessary we will extend it to March and April, after a dialogue with you “, stressed the Prime Minister Robert Abela.
